Description	:	Funeral services for Clara Larson, age 89, of Bottineau, were held on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. in the Willow Creek Church in Overly. Burial was in the Willow Creek Cemetery rural Overly. Officiating at the services was the Reverend John Hesford. Margaret Wittmayer was the organist and the congregating sang selected hymns. The soloist was Kristi Evanger. Casket bearers were Kirk Larson, Mark Larson, Todd Larson, Brent Evanger, Christopher Larson, Pat Knoepfle and Nick Knoepfle. Clara R. Larson, a daughter of John C. and Agnes (Aasness) Hagen was born on January 4, 1920 in the Turtle Mountains north of Bottineau. Clara attended Ackworth School and graduated from Dunseith High School. In 1938, she married Clarence E. "Swede" Larson at Rolla. They lived on area farms, in Dunseith, and later in Overly. They had 4 children: Curtis, Peggy, Barbara, and Ronald. Clara was a cook at the Overly School, a nurse's aide at the Rolette Hospital and Head Cook at the International Music Camp at the Peace Gardens for over 30 years. Clarence passed away on March 18, 1979. In 2003, Clara moved to Bottineau and has resided there since. She was a member of the Willow Creek Lutheran Church in Overly, taught Sunday School, and was an active member of the woman’s group, WELCA. Clara loved her family and friends. She enjoyed quilting and made many quilts for World Relief. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and making lefse. Clara passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2009 in a Bottineau nursing home. She is survived by 2 daughters: Peggy (Ron) Culhane of Columbia, MO, Barbara (Mark) Evanger of Mandan, ND; a son: Ronald Larson of Overly, ND; a daughter-in-law: Carol Larson of Stephen, MN; 7 grandchildren: Kirk Larson of Stephen, MN, Mark Larson of Strandquist, MN, Todd (Kim) Larson of Japan, Karen Huggins (Allen) of Columbia, MO, Kimberly Sommers (Mark) of Champlin, MN, Brent Evanger (Kristi) of Robbinsdale, MN, Melanie Bullinger (Travis) of Minneapolis, MN; 2 Sisters: Ina Anderson of Mondovi, WI, Florence Marten of Modena, WI; 2 brothers: Raymond (Thelma) Hagen of Kennewick, WA, Oscar (Emmy) Hagen of La Crosse, WI; 11 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband Clarence, son Curtis, granddaughter Lisa, parents John C. Hagen, Agnes Hagen, brothers Clifford Hagen and Orville Hagen, sister Alice Martinson.
