Description	:	Reiter, Clara Our dear mother, Clara Reiter, passed away Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, peacefully in her sleep of congestive heart failure at Butterfly Homes. She was born May 31, 1921, to Jacob and Mabel Ruff in Billings. She grew up in a German home environment. Her parents spoke no English. She attended Billings schools and at an early age, she worked hard in the beet fields west of Billings with her three brothers and five sisters. Read More	Reiter, Clara Our dear mother, Clara Reiter, passed away Friday, Dec. 8, 2006, peacefully in her sleep of congestive heart failure at Butterfly Homes. She was born May 31, 1921, to Jacob and Mabel Ruff in Billings. She grew up in a German home environment. Her parents spoke no English. She attended Billings schools and at an early age, she worked hard in the beet fields west of Billings with her three brothers and five sisters. On Sept. 10, 1941, she married her sweetheart, George J. Reiter. To this union of marriage, three daughters were born: Dorothy, Gloria and Diana. Together, George and Clara built their little dream house on Buena Vista Drive in Billings. They lived there for 51 years. Mom worked hard at various jobs, retiring in the early '80s. She was always there if we needed her for anything. She loved to bake. Her German coffeecake, homemade noodles, and cabbage buns were family favorites. She also loved to crochet and hand quilted many beautiful quilts. Mom loved to visit with people. She enjoyed potluck and bingo at the Central Court Village apartments where she resided for four years. As illness grew more frequent, she resided at the Butterfly Homes Assisted Living for about seven months. Her faith in the Lord helped her through many illnesses. Mom was a 50 plus member of Pilgrim Congregational Church. Her happiest times were with her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 59 years, George, who died in 2000; her brothers, Jake and Victor Ruff; her sisters, Molly Bekel, Mary Zier and Katherine Weisgarber. She leaves behind her daughters, Dorothy (Marvin) Thompson, Gloria (LeRoy) Roll, Diana (Dick) Emmons, all of Billings; her grandchildren, Curt (Melanie) Thompson, Marva Dyba (Tom); Terry and Theresa Roll, Lisa (Robb) Laird, Rich and Brian Emmons; her great-grandchildren, Anthony and Aaron Thompson, Kirsten and Zach Dyba, Molly, Meghan and Nickolaus Laird; her brother, John (Marylou) Ruff of Billings; sisters, Lydia Papka of Billings, and Freda (John) Saur of Henderson, Nev.; and many nieces and nephews, including special nieces, Anna and Debby. Visitations will begin Tuesday afternoon at the Smith Downtown Chapel, 925 S. 27th St. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 14, at Pilgrim Congregational Church, 409 S. 30th St., with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Smith Downtown Chapel is in charge of arrangements. The family wishes to thank all of the staff at Butterfly home for the love and care they gave mom. Also, thank you to Rocky Mountain Hospice nurse, Jennifer, and caregiver, Susie. Memorials may be made to Pilgrim Congregational Church, Billings; Rocky Mountain Hospice; or the charity of choice.
