Description	:	Clarence Aloysius Reinsch was born to William Reinsch and Margaret (Erthum) Reinsch on September 14, 1919, at Shickley and passed away September 20, 2003 at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 84 years and six days. He was one of 13 children in the family. Clarence was born on a farm near Shickley. He was the fourth of 13 children. Read More	Clarence Aloysius Reinsch was born to William Reinsch and Margaret (Erthum) Reinsch on September 14, 1919, at Shickley and passed away September 20, 2003 at the Fillmore County Hospital in Geneva at the age of 84 years and six days. He was one of 13 children in the family. Clarence was born on a farm near Shickley. He was the fourth of 13 children. He went to school at District No. 79 through the eighth grand and later received his GED through the Veterans of Foreign Wars on November 11, 1999. He was very honored to receive this award. He helped his father on the farm until he was drafted into the Army on August 14, 1941. After his basic training at Fort Riley, Kansas, he was then sent to California and put in the Mechanized Cavalry to guard the coast. He met his wife, Bernice Schommer, before entering the service at his uncle's (Henry Reinsch's) wedding dance in Burress in Februrry of 1941. They were married on April 19, 1944 at Sacred Heart Catholic church in Lawrence. they returned to California until later that year when he was transferred to Texas to prepare for overseas duty. On January 1, 1945, he left New York for France, Germany and Austria where he remained until being sent home. He arrived in the states on November 9, 1945 and was then discharged. He started farming again in the Shickley area. In 1954, the family moved to their farm west of Geneva. Here he farmed until retiring and moving into Geneva in June of 1986 at 444 F Street. His garden became his farm. He worked in his garden just a few days before he left us. Clarence and Bernice were blessed with eight children-- Carol and Carl Arent; Kathleen and Larry Lukes; Deloris and Jerry Lukes; Gary and Carol Reinsch; Ken and Bev Reinsch; Ranee and John Hoarty; Rhonda Reinsch; and Anthony and Susan Reinsch. He loved playing cards. He was never lucky, but yet he seemed to win most of the games. When he was in the hospital, this last stay, he wanted to play cards. We dealt out the cards; he won the game and he was tired and wanted to go to bed. We have decided that God wanted him in Heaven to fill a spot at His table. Clarence belonged to the Legion, VFW and Knights of Columbus organizations. He was an active member of the Knights of Columbus, especially at Hunter's Breakfast time. In his younger years, he would run the pancake griddle. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Reinsch; and Edward, Herbert and Wayne Reinsch, all brothers to Clarence. He lost a brother, William, when he was only seven years old. Also a sister preceded him in death was Margarite Getz of Colorado. Clarence is survived by his wife, Bernice; and all eight of his children and their spouses; 20 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Clarence is survived by two brothers, Francis L. and wife ValJean Reinsch and Merle and wife Betty Reinsch; five sisters, Viola Stengel, Gertrude Dondlinger, Jeanette and Joe Schommer; JoAnn Haufle, Patty Bourke; two sisters-in-law, Janet Reinsch and Everna Reinsch. Funeral services were conducted from St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Geneva on Wednesday, September 24, 2003. Mass was said by Father David Oldham, nephew of Clarence. Soloist was David Claus, also a nephew of Clarence. Pallbearers were Clarence's three sons and four sons-in-law. Interment was in the St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
