Description	:	Clarence Archie, the third child of Albert and Carrie (Wild) Talkington was born on a farm near Geneva, on August 23, 1912. His early life was spent in Momence township, Fillmore county. Here he attended school at District 60. Read More	Clarence Archie, the third child of Albert and Carrie (Wild) Talkington was born on a farm near Geneva, on August 23, 1912. His early life was spent in Momence township, Fillmore county. Here he attended school at District 60. He chose Miss Mildred Beryl Ritchey to be his life’s companion and they were united in marriage on July 23, 1935. This union was blessed with six children and six grandchildren. Their six children are Clarence Ardell, Mildred Elaine Holtzen, Joyce Evelyn, Eldon Archie, Dale LaVerne and Donna Lee Talkington. Their six grandchildren are James Archie, Rebecca Ingrid, Daniel Edgar, Tircia Michelle, Bradley Scott and Brian James Talkington. His daily love, concern and devotion for his family is a precious memory. He lived always for his family, denying himself that they might have the pleasures of life. In early young manhood, he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior, and he remained a faithful follower each day of his life. He was a member of the Womer United Methodist church. He, with his family, lived 10 years at Turlock and Ceres, Cal., where he worked as a mechanic and body and fender repair man. The family returned to Webster county, where he spent the remainder of his life on a farm southwest of Inavale. He was engaged in farming and livestock raising which he enjoyed. He felt he was “nearer God’s heart in a garden than anywhere else on earth.” At midday on Tuesday, March 10, 1981, he was fatally injured while working with a tractor at his home. He passed away at the age of 68 years. He was preceded in death by his son, Eldon, his parents, his sister, Benita and brother, Orland. Survivors include his wife, his children and grandchildren, two brothers, Fred and wife Ella of Turlock, Cal. and Harley and wife Betty of Hayward, Cal. two daughters-in-law, Jeanette and Carol Talkington, one son-in-law, Dennis Holtzen, his nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Simonsen mortuary in Red Cloud on Saturday, March 14, 1981, with Rev. Kenneth Thee officiating. James Archie Talkington was accompanied by Mrs. Kay Meschner. Pallbearers were Fred and Harley Talkington, Donald Ritchey, Joe Schelkopf and John Pittard. He was buried by the side of his son, Eldon, in the Geneva cemetery.
