Porter, son of Jonathan and Anna Porter, was born on a farm near Decatur, Nebraska, March 23, 1878, and passed away Sept. 20, 1949, at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital at Norfolk, Nebraska, at the age of 71 years. Porter, son of Jonathan and Anna Porter, was born on a farm near Decatur, Nebraska, March 23, 1878, and passed away Sept. 20, 1949, at Our Lady of Lourdes hospital at Norfolk, Nebraska, at the age of 71 years. He attended rural school near his father’s home. On April 2, 1902, he was united in marriage to Claressa Jane Jenson, his school day sweetheart. One son came to bless this home, Clarence Orval, of Norfolk, Nebraska. In 1936, the family moved to Blair, Nebraska, where they have lived for the past thirteen years. He was preceded in death by his mother and father. Left to mourn are his wife, and son, Orval, of Norfolk, along with countless friends who loved his ready smile, generous nature and love of his home and family. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. D. Johnson of Blair at the Decatur Rural Seventh Day Adventist Church Friday, Sept. 23, 1949.
