He was married to Ella Mae McKain May 11, 1913. To this union were born five children--Clara, Donald Lee, Alma Fern, Arvilla and William Melvin. None of these children ever remembered seeing their father walk without crutches. Read More	Obituary - HOWARD COURANT, Sept. 12, 1929, Grenola Gazette Column CLARENCE LYNAM Clarence Edward Lynam was born Dec. 24, 1885 in Mercer County, Missouri and passed away at his home in Grenola at 10:00 a.m. August 30, 1929. He was married to Ella Mae McKain May 11, 1913. To this union were born five children--Clara, Donald Lee, Alma Fern, Arvilla and William Melvin. None of these children ever remembered seeing their father walk without crutches. He leaves besides his wife and children, his aged father and mother, one brother Roy Lynam, two sisters, Mrs. Pearl McEleny and Mrs. Mary Taylor all of Columbus, Ohio. His Mother has been with him for several weeks and was at his bedside when he passed away. He also leaves a step-daughter, Mrs. Lillie Wonser, who loved himas her father and who helped him as township trustee, doing the writing as her father sat in the car as long as he was able to be up and out. He was converted and united with the Methodist Church during the Rose meeting. Funeral services were held at the M.E. Church at 2 o'clock August 31 by his friend Mrs. Belle Reid Yates, assisted by his pastor Rev. White and his body was laid to rest in Greenlawn Cemetery. Rheumatism has afflicted him for twelve years much of the time not being able to move hand, head or foot. During all the time he has never been heard to murmur or complain, his mind has seemed unusually bright and alert, always ready with a happy greeting or smile to any friend who might come to see him. His faithful wife, Ella has been his constant companion and nurse and deserves much praise for her faithful care. He was anxious about his family to have them do what was right. Every night they would gather around his bed for a word of prayer. He loved to talk with and about God and the memory of his kindly, loving interest will be a lasting benediction to them.
