Description	:	Clarence H. Wedeking, age 97, of Clarksville, Iowa, was born the son of Edmund and Louise (Klunder) Wedeking on December 19, 1920, in rural Butler County, Iowa. He received his education at the Fremont Township #6 School. Clarence served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945. He attained the ranking as a Staff Sargent during World War II. On September 23, 1945, Clarence was united in marriage with Phyllis Darlene Wedeking at the Plainfield Baptist Church in Plainfield, Iowa. They made their home in the Plainfield and Clarksville area. Clarence worked for Schmadeke Feed Mill and then Roach Farms which later became Plainfield Coop. Clarence also farmed throughout his entire life. Clarence was a member of the First United Church of Christ – Pleasant Valley in rural Clarksville. Clarence loved baseball and he played on the city softball team. Clarence enjoyed dancing with Phyllis. Clarence died Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Clarksville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clarksville, from natural causes. Clarence is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis in 2003; his parents; his granddaughter, Lisa Wedeking; two brothers, Herman and Ray Wedeking; and two sisters, Lily Schrage and Florence Wedeking. Clarence is survived by three sons, Gary Wedeking of Mason City, Iowa, Randy (Brenda) Wedeking of Clarksville and Rodney (Dawn) Wedeking of Clarksville; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at First United Church of Christ – Pleasant Valley with burial at Pleasant Valley Cemetery, both in rural Clarksville. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home (319) 278-4245 in Clarksville and an hour before services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family. Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home in Clarksville is in charge of arrangements.
