Description	:	Services for Clarence J. 'C. J.' Lammers, of rural Monroe, 84, who died Friday, Nov. 5, at Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward, will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Monroe. Clarence Lammers was born Aug. 17, 1909, in Monroe to John and May (Peach) Lammers. Lammers, of rural Monroe, 84, who died Friday, Nov. 5, at Cloverlodge Care Center in St. Edward, will be held at 2 p. m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Monroe. Clarence Lammers was born Aug. 17, 1909, in Monroe to John and May (Peach) Lammers. He attended the Okay Grade School and graduated from Monroe High School in 1928, before going on to business school for two years. In 1938, he started an electrical contract business in which he brought electricity to many residents in the surrounding counties. In 1942, Mr. Lammers enlisted in the U. S. Navy and served with the Seabees as an Electrician's Mate First Class. He helped build the submarine base at Pearl Harbor. During his Navy service, he went with the initial forces in the invasion of Iwo Jima and received the Navy Unit Commendation to the Support Unit of the Fifth Amphibian Corps, U. S. Fleet Marine Force for outstanding heroism. After his honorable discharge in 1945, he returned to Monroe and continued his electrical business. In 1952, he married Arletta Civish-Hill. The couple lived in the Monroe area. She died in 1972. Mr. Lammers has lived with his sister in Burbank, Calif. for a year prior to entering the Cloverlodge Care Center in October.
