Music was provided by Cindy Kempcke and Ferne Kempcke and congregational singing. Jean Thompson was the organist. Pallbearers were Alan Pipal, Tony Pipal, Michael Johnson, Milan Johnson, Douglas Rohloff and Joel Bruns, grandsons of Clarence. Interment was in the Lyons Cemetery with Piper Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Clarence John Drummond, eldest of son of Charles and Gladys Drummond, was born March 13, 1906 at Lyons, Nebraska. He was united in marriage to May A. Peterson August 2, 1929 at Sioux City, Iowa. To this union six children were born, Gladys, LaVonne, Magel, JoAnne, Alan Jon and Mary. He was formerly a member of the Divide Center Presbyterian Church and received his 50-year membership pin before the church was dissolved. He then transferred membership in the First Presbyterian Church in Lyons. Clarence spent most of his life farming in the Divide Center community with his wife May until their retirement in 1974 when they moved to Lyons where they enjoyed their remaining years together. May passed away in 1985. Clarence was active in church, wood crafting and carpentry. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his participation in the Lyons centennial parade when he pulled several handcrafted wagons with a small tractor. Clarence passed away suddenly on Monday, April 17 at the Oakland Hospital at the age of 83 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents and two brothers, Willard and Lawrence. He is survived by his six children: Gladys Pipal of Fremont, Lavonne Rasmussen of Hercules, Ca., Magel Rohloff of Fremont, JoAnne Johnson of Oakland, Dr. Alan Jon Drummond of Modesto, Ca., Mary Bruns of Pender; 25 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Leora Peterson of Everett, Wa., and Dorothy Jane Prine of Omaha; many relatives and a large host of friends.
