Read More	Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier online,” January 2, 2015: OTTUMWA — Clarence Raymond Caster, 92, of 1 Oak Ridge Rd., formerly of Friendly Lane, died January 1, 2015 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center. He was born May 9, 1922 in rural Albia to Ernest and Selma Johnson Caster. He graduated from Moravia High School in 1940, then served three years in the U.S. Army. He married Jean Bettis on October 21, 1945 in Albia. He attended Iowa Success business school and served as the City of Ottumwa Finance Director and City Auditor until 1962. He was then the manager of the Deere Employees Federal Credit Union for 25 years, retiring in 1987, Clarence was a member of Willard St. United Methodist Church where he served as Treasurer for 20 years. He was a former member of Methodist Men, Friendship Group and the Merry Homemakers Sunday School class. He was a member of the local AARP group and the Wapello County Historical Society where he served as Treasurer. Clarence and Jean loved to travel and visited every state in the U.S. including Alaska and Hawaii and they enjoyed a number of cruises. He loved working with wood, his garden and grew great vegetables and roses. He is survived by Jean, his wife of 69 years; a daughter, Leanne (Rick) Sloan of Ottumwa; a son, Gregory (Hiroko) Caster of Sunnyvale, CA; four grandchildren, Eric (Sandy) Sloan of Stratford, IA, Nicole (Jay) Stevens of Six Mile, SC, Zachary Caster and Mariko Caster, both of California; two great-grandsons, Justin and Kyle Stevens of South Carolina; two brothers, Leo Caster of Albia and Floyd Caster of Walker, MN. Clarence was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Clifford and Darrell Caster. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Willard St. United Methodist Church with Rev. Leila Disburg officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery. Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to Willard St United Methodist Church, 175 N. Willard St., Ottumwa, IA 52501.
