Description	:	Clarence Richard, the second son of Katy B and Robert F. Harritt, was born September 11, 1898. He passed away Sunday at ten o'clock in the home that had always been his. Clarence died on his 40th birthday. He completed his schooling at the Pleasant View school in 1915, but enjoyed learning and reading until a short time ago when failing eyesight made it impossible for him to see to read, or recognize his friends except by their voices. Harritt, was born September 11, 1898. He passed away Sunday at ten o'clock in the home that had always been his. Clarence died on his 40th birthday. He completed his schooling at the Pleasant View school in 1915, but enjoyed learning and reading until a short time ago when failing eyesight made it impossible for him to see to read, or recognize his friends except by their voices. He joined the United Brethren Church at the early age of nine years and attended services as long as his health permitted. He spent his 18th birthday in an Omaha hospital. Although handicapped physically or (sic) more than 20 years, he was never one to complain of his condition and was always jovial and interested in people and affairs about him. For many years he conducted an insurance business over quite a large territory. He possessed a philosophical turn of mind which served him well in this kind of work. He had an unusually large acquaintance and enjoyed the rich experience of being able to call nearly all he met by name. There are left to mourn his going, his father, mother, brother Ralph, and two sisters, Mrs. W.C. Noll of York, and Mrs. George Adams of Doniphan. Also a niece, two nephews, and other relatives and many friends. He has gone to a better home. Funeral services were held in the U.B. Church Tuesday afternoon, Rev. E.A. Daniel conducting same, and Rev. Con Hewitt assisting. Interment was at Nelson. The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, September 15, 1938
