Snyder 1949 Bridgewater Bulletin The community of Upper Branch was saddened to hear of the passing of Clarence Steven Snyder at the age of 76 years, at his home on Wednesday evening, September 21 st., at 8 o'clock. He had been in failing health for the past nine months. The deceased was the son of the late Perrigan and Eliza (Wentzell) Snyder, and was the last surviving member of a family of eleven. He had been in failing health for the past nine months. The deceased was the son of the late Perrigan and Eliza (Wentzell) Snyder, and was the last surviving member of a family of eleven. Those left to mourn the loss of a kind and devoted husband and father are his sorrowing wife, who was before her marriage, Celie Jane Frauzell; four sons, Jonas, Winfred, William, and Murray; also one daughter, Dorothy, Mrs. Raymond Meisner. There are also six grandchildren besides a host of friends. The funeral service was held at the Union Church on Friday afternoon at 2:30. The service was conducted by Rev. Alfred Schenk, pastor of the Lutheran Church, of which the deceased was a faithful and devoted member. Rev. Mr. Schenk spoke comforting words to the bereaved ones, from St. John's Gospel, Chapter 11. Hymns sung were "I Heard the Voice of Jesus Say" and "Jesus, Lover of my Soul." He was laid to rest in the Upper Branch Cemetery. The pall-bearers were Pearl Mailman, Richard Mailman, Brunswick Rhodenizer, and Wallace Bolivar, who had been chosen by the deceased before he passed away. With thanks to Rosemary Rafuse.
