He was born on October 4, 1913 to Walter Scott and Flossie McKay. He graduated from Russell, Kansas High School. He attended Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. McKay Sr., 94, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2008 at the Excelsior Springs Medical Center Convalescent Center. He was born on October 4, 1913 to Walter Scott and Flossie McKay. He graduated from Russell, Kansas High School. He attended Washburn University in Topeka, Kansas. He married Cora Maxene Ranabargar on May 7, 1949 in Topeka, Kansas. She preceded him in death on April 2, 2008. Clarence was retired from the Kansas Highway Patrol after twenty years of service. After his retirement, he worked for fourteen years as Director Driver Control, Motor Vehicle Department for the State of Kansas. He is survived by two sons, Clarence W. "Bud" McKay Jr. and wife Rose of Excelsior Springs, MO, and Ronald Wayne McKay and wife Sally of Roswell, NM; six grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Schwartz of Hutchinson, KS; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents, his wife Maxene on April 2, 2008; one son at infancy and his brother Kenneth. Graveside services will be held August 1, 2008 at the Memorial Park Cemetery, Chanute, Kansas. Memorials in his name may be made to the Shriner's Hospitals in Tampa, Florida and may be left with the funeral home. Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
