Description	:	He was the son of Glen and Pearl (Chapin) Martin and attended Cabot schools. In early years he was a farm laborer and later worked for Gallagher Trucking Company and the Venetian Restaurant, both in Barre. He was a veteran of World War II, enlisting February 1942 and being discharged 1945. He crossed Europe from Normandy to Czechoslovakia with the 4th Armored Division. He was a member of the VFW, the American Legion and the Moose. After discharge he married the former Ruth Robar and they were the parents of seven children. They later divorced.
