Description	:	Clarice Jean Rempe, a daughter of Henry Marion and Dena Van Engelenhoven Rempe, was born on December 2, 1926 on a farm north of Leighton, Iowa. She graduated from the Pella Public High School in Pella, Iowa with the Class of 1943. On February 12, 1947 she was united in marriage with John William Roozeboom at her parents farm near Leighton. To this union three children were born: Mary Ann, Mark John and Deanne Jean. John and Clarice rented the van Engelenhoven Farm near Leighton for ten years. Read More	Clarice Jean Rempe, a daughter of Henry Marion and Dena Van Engelenhoven Rempe, was born on December 2, 1926 on a farm north of Leighton, Iowa. She graduated from the Pella Public High School in Pella, Iowa with the Class of 1943. On February 12, 1947 she was united in marriage with John William Roozeboom at her parents farm near Leighton. To this union three children were born: Mary Ann, Mark John and Deanne Jean. John and Clarice rented the van Engelenhoven Farm near Leighton for ten years. Then in 1957 John bought the Leighton Locker Plant and they moved into Leighton. In 1965 they moved to the farm east of Leighton. John Continued to operate the locker until the time of his untimely death, April 5, 1968. Following his death, Clarice and her three young children remained on the farm until moving to Pella, Iowa in 1971. Clarice had worked at the Leighton State Bank in Leighton and after moving to Pella was employed at Boot Bookkeeping and Tax Service. On August 11, 1984 she and Reuben C. Steenhoek were united in marriage in Pella. They both continued to work at Vermeer Manufacturing Company in Pella until they retired in 1988. Clarice found much pleasure in gardening, canning and cooking and provided her entire family with afghans she had knitted. On Saturday afternoon, June 5, 1999 she passed away at the Pella Regional Health Center in Pella following a very brief hospital stay. She attained the age of 72 years, six months and three days. Clarice leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Reuben; her three children and their mates and seven grandchildren. Clarice leaves three step-children and their mates and six step-children.
