Read More	Funeral services at the First Christian Church in Newton. Clarice, the daughter of Robert and Zelpha (Russell) McWhirter, was born April 15, 1923, in Prairie City, Iowa. She graduated from Newton High School in 1940. She married David S. Trotter on February 9, 1941, in Princeton, Missouri. Clarice worked in metal preparation for Thombert, Inc. for 19 years. She was an active member of the First Christian Church, where she had served as a deaconess, had been a member of the Opal Circle, and was a member of a quilting group. Clarice was also a member of UAW Local 997. She enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and made lots of jellies and jams to give to family members. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting, and embroidery, and was known for her dish towels. She and Dave ran her family's resort in Waterville, Minnesota for five summers. They also enjoyed spending time with their family at their cabin at Rock Creek. Clarice is survived by her children, Saundra (Richard) Funk of Milford, Doug (Anita) Trotter of Newton, and Rick Trotter of Kellogg; her foster son, Bob McKeever of Newton; her grandchildren: 17 great-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two special nieces; and many other nieces and nephews. Clarice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dave; son, David Michael Trotter; great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Anne Knox; and siblings, Robert McWhirter, Ruth Nass, Helen Rexroat, and Alice Trotter.
