Description	:	Clara, daughter of William and Nora Bennett, born Sept 24, 1897, at Clarinda, Iowa, passed from this life at her home in Lamoni, Monday morning, July 27, being 56 years, 10 months, and three days of age. She was in poor health the last several years of her life. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Orville Palmer, five children; Patty Ann and Jerry of the home, and Mrs. Merle Mann, Decatur, Neb., Garland Jenkins, Des Moines, Iowa, Kenneth Jenkins, Hartford, Iowa; and one sister Mrs. S. Read More	Clara, daughter of William and Nora Bennett, born Sept 24, 1897, at Clarinda, Iowa, passed from this life at her home in Lamoni, Monday morning, July 27, being 56 years, 10 months, and three days of age. She was in poor health the last several years of her life. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, Orville Palmer, five children; Patty Ann and Jerry of the home, and Mrs. Merle Mann, Decatur, Neb., Garland Jenkins, Des Moines, Iowa, Kenneth Jenkins, Hartford, Iowa; and one sister Mrs. S. C. Harris, McGrath, Minn.; two half-brothers, James Bennett, Lamoni, and William Bennett, Leon; three half-sisters Mrs. Jess Allbee, Storm Lake, Iowa, Mrs. Alice Warden, Leon, and Mrs. Mary Walters of New York; eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, besides many other devoted relatives and friends. Her mother died when she was 16 months old, and her father passed away when she was 12. She made her home with a half-brother of Leon, Iowa, until she was married to David Jenkins, to which union four children were born: Georgia, Garland, Dorothy (who died in infancy), and Kenneth. Later she was married to Orville Palmer, to which union two children were born, Patty Ann and Jerry. Most of her life was spent in Decatur county and Lamoni which was her home for the last 12 years. She united with the Methodist church of Lamoni, to which faith she remained faithful. She was a devoted wife and mother, always thoughtful of others before herself. She will be sadly missed by her loved ones. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery. The fact he died in Livingston County but was removed to Grundy County to be buried may be an indication he wanted to be buried with his wife. He never remarried after her death many years before his. *4. (Theory by a relative:) "I believe her father was buried in Grundy County, Missouri. The Bennetts had some connection to Grundy County. After living in Missouri, William's father and second wife moved to Decatur County, Iowa, however, I noticed that William's brother, Isaac Bennett, was living in Grundy County, Missouri in 1860 and the informant on William Bennett's death certificate was his nephew, John Wesley Bennett, who was the son of William's brother, John Bennett. John Wesley Bennett lived in Grundy County at the time of William Bennett's death in 1910. I believe that may be why William is buried there. "As for Nora (William's second wife), I believe she died sometime between 1899 and 1900 in Missouri. Their daughter, Nora, was born in 1899 and William Bennett is a widower in the 1900 census. William Bennett was married previously to Minerva Baker in 1865 and they had eleven children together. William and Minerva were divorced sometime between 1880 and 1896 and William then married Nora.
