Read More	Clark Eldor Graber died January 11, 2016, in Kansas City, Kan., while enjoying a late Christmas gathering with his family. He was 76. He was born December 11, 1939 in Sioux Falls to Edwin P and Louise (Preheim) Graber of Freeman, S.Dak. As a young boy Clark was well known around the campus of Freeman Junior College, where both of his parents worked and lived. He is rumored to have been a mischievous young boy, which may explain why he was an only child. He and his friends loved sports, and became loyal fans of the Boston Red Sox and Notre Dame football. He was a handy youth, and as a teen, one of his projects was to build a machine to roll bandages. At one Women In Mission meeting, Clark’s mom talked about her son’s bandage roller with another delegate from a church in Southern California. Clark built a bandage rolling machine for the woman from California, who, in exchange, sent Clark some homegrown oranges. The woman in California had a daughter a few years younger than Clark, who he would run into a few years later. He was baptized at Salem Mennonite Church by The Rev. J. Herbert Fretz. Clark graduated from Freeman Academy (where he played basketball) in 1958, and went on to attend Bethel College, where he majored in Psychology and played on the college golf team. At Bethel one day, he and his friends put up a notice on a dorm room bulletin board that they were driving to an away Bethel College football game and were looking for additional students to join them on the trip. A young freshman student from California named Lerace Boshart joined the group, and met the man with whom she would share 51 years of marriage (and many more ball games.) Clark and Lerace were married June 27, 1964 at First Mennonite Church in Upland, Calif. Clark and Lerace made their home in Freeman, where he operated Graber Excavating, and later went on to work for Kleinsasser Heating and Cooling, Stern Oil, Mettler Fertilizer, and Homestead Orchards. His sense of humor (like that of his father, Nez,) was appreciated by friends and family alike. He was an active member of Salem Mennonite Church, where he served as a Sunday school teacher and church moderator. He loved fastpitch softball, gathered family genealogy materials, and enjoyed reading and collecting National Geographic magazines. In their later years Clark and Lerace traveled, touring Alaska, the Pacific coast, England, Guatemala, and glaciers in Montana and Canada. Clark also made a long overdue trip to Fenway Park to see his beloved Red Sox play. Clark is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Lerace; his son Ron Graber of Carthage, Mo.; and his daughter Danielle Vachal of Waverly, Neb. Grandchildren include Dock, Bruce, Willow and River Graber and Carson and Landon Vachal. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22 at Walter’s Funeral Home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 23 at Salem Mennonite Church.
