Warne Clark H.Warne, 97, of Omaha and formerly of Hooper passed away on Sunday, April 18, 1999, at the Elkhorn Manor in Elkhorn. Clark was" born September 12, 1901, to Abram J. and Mary (Pellemounter) Warne in Battle Creek. He was a graduate of Pender High School and the Des MoineS College of Mortuary Science. While Clark was a junior and senior in high school and for several years thereafter, he owned and operated the Pender Cafe. After graduating from mortuary college, he was employed, for seven years at the Demme Mortuary in Pender. Clark moved to Hooper in 1931. He and his partner, John Wollmer, operated the WolImer & Warne Funeral Home and Furniture Store in Hooper. He conntinued his affiliation with the two businesses with his son Richard Warne until his retirement in 1977. On April 11, 1920, Clark married Charlotte M. Crellin at Pender with his father, Rev. Abram Warne officiating. She died April 16, 1983. On December 11, 1994, he married Lois Moeller at Hooper. Clark is a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper and the Nebraska and National funeral Directors Associations. He was a longtime president of the Hooper Telephone Co., past Hooper City Council and served as mayor of Hooper, 1963 to 1969. He served as chairman of the Hooper Housing Authority during it's construction and a charter member of Elkhorn Valley Golf Association. Clark was appointed an Admiral in the mythical Nebraska Navy in 1963 and named outstanding retired business man of Hooper in 1979. Survivors include his wife, Lois of Omaha; son, Richard and special friend Beverly Goeteke both of Fremont; sister, Pearle Hearn of Panama City Beach, Fl.; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Clark was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Charlotte; a brother, Leslie Warne; and a daughter-in-law, Slylvia Warne. The funeral service will be held today, Wednesday, April 21 at 2 P.M. at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hooper. The Rev. Gregory Berger will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church from noon until 2 p.m. on Tuesday. Burial will be held in the Hooper Cemetery in Hooper. Pallbearers are Bill and Mark Carlson, Donald Schwab, Eugene Tonjes, and Mike and Nick Warne. Memorials are suggested to Redeemer Lutheran Church.
