It is not known when Clark came to North Dakota. Edith came to North Dakota at age nine living in Glen Ullin. In early 1893 Clark and Edith were married. Their first home was near the Cannonball River at Janesburg where Robert was bom. They moved to what was later called Fleak It was here they built a stone house and Dann was born. In the spring of 1903 they sold the stone house to a man named Fleak (after whom the post office was named). In 1904 they moved to Section 29 in Pretty Rock township. They lived in a dugout while Clark built a sod house. This was near where the Pretty Rock Hall was later built. They lived here until the summer of 1908. Clark homesteaded on the south half of section 22 where a sod house was built. Here Ida and Helen were born. Some say Clark was the earliest settler in Pretty Rock coming to that territory in 1892. Edith carried mail with horse and buggy from Pretty Rock to the Howe Post Office on the Cedar River and to Morristown, South Dakota from about 1906 to 1911. Clark used to cut hay on the 40 acres in the northwest corner of section 8 which was owned by D.P. Barnes. Robert owned the Coffin Butte coal mine until 1920 when he sold it to Jim Cain. In 1922 Clark went west with Cliff Campbell looking for work. They had an auction sale and Edith and daughters moved to Elgin, North Dakota. In 1924 they moved to Carson where Edith ran the Cafe. Later they moved back to Elgin where Edith cooked at the hospital. Edith and Clark have since died. Robert is in a rest home in Hettinger, North Dakota. Dann, Ida and Helen live in Red Lodge, Montana.
