Description	:	C. V. Courtney Dies In Grinnell Hospital Clark Vernon (Mike) Courtney, son of Jacob and Mary Courtney, was born at Perlee, Iowa, Nov. 7, 1895. He received his education at rural schools in Iowa and Missouri. On Oct. 26, 1916, he was united in marriage to Sarah Madeline Hootman at Stockport, Iowa. To this union six children were born. He was employed by the Iowa Electric Light and Power Company for a number of years, and at that time the family lived in Marengo and Victor. Courtney Dies In Grinnell Hospital Clark Vernon (Mike) Courtney, son of Jacob and Mary Courtney, was born at Perlee, Iowa, Nov. 7, 1895. He received his education at rural schools in Iowa and Missouri. On Oct. 26, 1916, he was united in marriage to Sarah Madeline Hootman at Stockport, Iowa. To this union six children were born. He was employed by the Iowa Electric Light and Power Company for a number of years, and at that time the family lived in Marengo and Victor. In 1941, he was employed by R.E.A. at Brooklyn until he suffered a heart attack in 1946. After that he was in the restaurant business until 1958, and since retiring, the home had been made in Brooklyn. He was taken to the Community hospital in Grinnell, Friday evening, Jan. 27, and passed away Sunday night at the age of 65 years, 2 months and 22 days. He was a member of the Methodist church. He leaves to mourn his passing, his devoted wife; two daughters, Vivian Myers of Malcom and Barbara Jean Thorpe of Cheyenne, Wyoming; four sons, John of Anamosa, Dale of Williamsburg, Dean of Malcom, and Bernard of Plesanton, Calif.; 18 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Arthur Brookhart of Letts, Iowa, Mrs. Walter Hyde, Mrs. Henry Lechner, Mrs. Norbert Kurtz and Mrs. Grace Garrett, all of Brighton, Iowa, and two brothers, Calvin of Fairfield, Iowa, and Frank of Cranston, Iowa, also other relatives and many friends. His parents, two brothers, and one sister preceded him in death. Funeral services were held from the McAninch chapel, Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 2 o'clock, with the Rev. M. C. Shupe of Grace Methodist of Brooklyn officiating. Two solos were sung by Arthur Lang, "Beyond the Sunset" and "Life Railway to Heaven," with Mrs. Bette Rieke, organist. Casket bearers were Dean Lippencott, Carl Reiche, Don Coburn, Hollis Fish, E. I. Lawton, and H. G. Meyer, Sr. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery at Victor.
