Fink, 81, of Salisbury, a faithful servant ... to his country, family, friends and most importantly, a faithful servant to his Lord, Jesus Christ, who called Claude home on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, while residing at The Laurels of Salisbury. Claude was born July 31, 1925, in Rowan County to the late L. Bradley and Mary Yow Fink. He graduated from Granite Quarry High School in 1942. He enlisted into the United States Marine Corps on June 24, 1943, and was honorably discharged on May 31, 1946, as a Corporal. He served during World War II and participated in action against the enemy at Okinawa. For 38 years, Claude was employed by Norfolk Southern Railroad, from 1949 to 1987, in Spencer and the Linwood yards. Preceding Claude in death was his lovely wife of 56 years, Frances Dry Fink, on Sept. 16, 2002. Claude is survived by his sons, Steve Fink and wife, Linda of Salisbury, Gary Fink and wife, Lisa of Salisbury; two brothers, Lawrence Fink and wife Martha of Kannapolis, Carl Fink and wife Mary of Georgetown, Tex.; two sisters, Elsie Huneycutt and husband Milas of Kannapolis and Velma McKinney and husband Bill of Charlotte; two granddaughters, Kara and husband Michael and Elizabeth; one grandson, Jason; and one great-grandson, "Little J." As a faithful servant of the Lord, he was a lifetime member of Dunn's Mountain Baptist Church, a Sunday School teacher and deacon. The last four years, while making his residence with his son, Gary, he attended Blackwelder Park Baptist Church, serving in the FAITH Ministry, until his declining health. Visitation and Service: Visitation will be from 12:30-2 p.m. Saturday at Blackwelder Park Baptist Church, where he will lie in-state for the visitation. The funeral will follow at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Stan Welch, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the Dunn's Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors performed by the Rowan County Honor Guard. At other times, the family will be at the home of Gary Fink at 404 Weaver Road, Salisbury.
