He was born on June 6, 1886, in New York City. He married Blanch Taft in 1936 in Vinton, Ia. He was employed at the Flour City Box Co. for 12 years, retiring 7 years ago. Surviving are one son, Claude R. Young of 43-1/2 Cascaden Ave; four step daughters, Mrs. Beverly Hakenewerd of 815 W. Parker St.; Mrs. Faye Westernman of 750 River Forest Rd, Evansdale; Mrs. Wallace Hardy and Mrs. Adeline Boorom, both of Cedar Falls; six grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services are pending at the O'Keefe and Towne funeral home. Waterloo Daily Courier Monday 04 Mar 1963 Funeral services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at O'Keefe & Towne funeral home for Claude William Young, 76, of 800 Mendota St., who died Saturday of a lung congestion. The Rev. Kenneth Fogelman, pastor of the Deliverance Temple, Evansdale, will officiate. Burial will be in Poyner cemetery.
