Claude Winfield Plowman, son of Emmaline and George Plowman, was born near Villisca, Iowa, May 4, 1879 and departed this life near Sharpsburg, Iowa at the age of 83 years, 3 months and 24 days. He was one from a family of four children: Cora who died in infancy, Lloyd who passed away in 1948 and Mrs Chester Ashbaugh of Pomona, Calif. On August 11, 1906 he was united in marriage to Grace Savage and they were happily married for 53 years. Grace passed away Oct 22, 1959. Three children were born to this union: Bernard of Sharpsburg, Helen (Mrs Lee Lucas) of Sewal, Iowa, Maxine (Mrs Eugene McAlpin) of New Market. When a young man Claude became a member of the Christian church at New Market. Claude spent most of his life in Taylor county where he was engaged in farming with his son. After the death of his wife, he moved to Excelsior Springs, Mo. He was married to Adeline Walker on August 7, 1961. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, one brother, one sister and one great grandchild. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Adeline; son, Bernard; two daughters, Helen and Maxine; one sister, Anna, eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren besides a host of neighbors and friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. BEDFORD TIMES PRESS, Bedford, Iowa, Sep 6, 1962 The body of Claude Plowman, resident of Missouri but with farm interests in the Taylor County vicinity near Sharpsburg, was found Thursday in his parked car. Mrs Ray Long noticed the car behind the barn when she went to pump water, and investigation resulted in believe that Mr Plowman died earlier that day. He had visited a Bedford doctor on Wednesday.
