Mrs. Grubb died Thursday, November 4, 1999 at the Tilden Community Hospital. Claudia Anna Grubb, the daughter of G.A. and Emilie Louise (Gathman) Weise was born on July 15, 1906, at Jersey City, New Jersey. When Claudia was eight years old her mother died, and she was sent to live with relatives. Her father came to Tilden where he met and married Rosetta Wittwer. Her family was reunited and they lived on a farm on the west edge of Oakdale. On May 5, 1933, she was married to Wesley Grubb at Oakdale. They lived their entire married life in Tilden. They were the parents of six children. Claudia loved to bake and eventually she started her own baking business, making huge donuts, rolls and long johns. She supplied them to the Bookmobile for many years. She also baked and decorated wedding cakes; some of which involved waterfalls, stair cases and numerous tiers. She traveled many miles to deliver these cakes as well as the table linen, silverware and glasses used in the weddings. Claudia was awarded the Good Neighbor Award from Kitchen Klatter; the Good Neighbor Award from Radio WOW in November of 1964; and the Good Neighbor Award from Ak-Sar-Ben in April 1989. For many years Claudia held Sunday School in her home for the neighborhood children and Vacation Bible School in the Tilden Park during the summer. She loved the Lord Jesus and asked him to be her savior when she was a young child. It was her prayer that her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grand children would believe in the Lord Jesus so she could see them again in heaven, as well as all her friends and neighbors. Mrs. Grubb is survived by her six children; twenty-one grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on November 18, 1984, five brothers, Obed, Emil, Lawrence, Andrew and Farel, and one sister, Elfrieda Campbell.
