Garlow, 100, who died Sunday June 1, 1986 in her home at the Scottsbluff Villa, willl be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday in the Jones Mortuary Chapel in Mitchell with the Rev. Jack Winland officiating. She was born July 5, 1885 in Griswold, Iowa, the daughter of Edward and Amanda (Haworth) Johnson and received her education in the Griswold schools. She married Jay E. Parker June 24, 1902 in Griswold. They moved to the Mitchell area in 1906 and homesteaded in the Dutch Flats area north of town. Mr. Parker died in November of 1919, leaving Claudia with seven children to raise, the youngest being only 2 months old. She later married Cambden Garlow on November 24, 1936 in Harrisburg and resided in Mitchell. Mr Garlow died in 1967. She moved to Scottsbluff to make her home with her son Vergil in 1970 and then moved to Gra-Mar Manor, now Scottsbluff Villa to live in 1976 where she has since resided. She was a 70 year member of the Federated Churches of Mitchell and a member of the C.C. Circle of the Church. She was given membership to the Nebraska Century Club by Governor Robert Kerry on her 100th birthday last year. Survivors include three sons Dale J. Parker of Scottsbluff, Louie A. Parker of Chula Vista, California, and Vergil H. Parker of Minatare Lake, 18 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 26 great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three step children, Albert Garlow of Chula Vista, California, Everett Garlow of Vista, California and Virginia Lewis of Hayward, California. She was preceded in death by her parents, by both husbands, two sons Cecil E. "Swede" Parker and Harold O. "Abe" Parker both of Mitchell and three daughters, Mildred in infancy, Lorraine Potter and Lenore Scott, by a step-son Edgar Garlow, two sisters Lillian Charles and Myrtle Johnson and by five brothers, Forest, William, Lewis "Merle", Burt and Clyde E. Johnson, and by one granddaughter.
