Description	:	CLAUS ABRAHAM Claus Abraham was born October 12, 1871, in Smoland, Sweden. He died Saturday, July 23, 1961, at the Marshall Domain Rest Home in Red Oak, Montgomery County, Iowa, at the age of 89 years, 9 months, and 10 days. He came to this country at the age of 16, and his first years were spent at Imogene, Iowa. Read More	CLAUS ABRAHAM Claus Abraham was born October 12, 1871, in Smoland, Sweden. He died Saturday, July 23, 1961, at the Marshall Domain Rest Home in Red Oak, Montgomery County, Iowa, at the age of 89 years, 9 months, and 10 days. He came to this country at the age of 16, and his first years were spent at Imogene, Iowa. Later he moved to Essex, where he was a butcher by trade until he moved to a farm northwest of Essex, Page County, Iowa. Mr. Abraham married Selma Lindburg of Essex, May 20, 1896, and to this union two children were born, Lerose Marie, who died in infancy and one son, Reuel. Mrs. Abraham preceded him in death August 10, 1963. His later retiring years were spent in Essex, until two years ago after a stroke, he made his home with his son Reuel and wife. He was a member of the Mission Covenant Church of Essex many years, in which he took a great interest. He is survived by one son, Reuel of Essex, Iowa; two grandchildren, Deloye Abraham of Red Oak, Iowa; Mrs. Alvin Hays, of Emerson, Iowa; Six great-grandchildren and one brother, Rev. Frank Abraham of Harcourt, along with several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 25, 1961. a prayer service at 1:30 PM in Carson-Hackett Mortuary and at 2:00 PM from the Essex Covenant Church. Pastor Paul A. Hedberg of Fremont Covenant Church was in charge, assisted by student pastor of Essex Covenant, Clinton Sundquist, Mrs. Lillie Peterson had charge of memory book. Floral arrangements were cared for by Mr. and Mrs. Reuben Lindburg and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Rydberg. Ushers were Eric Erickson and Clarence Brown. The congregational hymn was "As Pilgrims in this World." Mrs. Forrest Benedict and Mrs. Charles Lang sang "Face to Face" and "Beyond the Sunset." Mrs. Robert Young was organist. Casket bearers were Glenn Carlson, John Chandler, Martin Head, Maurite Ivarson, Church Maddex, and Pearl Woodin. Burial was in Essex Cemetery.
