He was born on January 5, 1916, the son of Kneal and Minnie (Reiners) Hinders. He served in the Army from 1941 to 1943. He married Marcelite Zweibohmer on March 25, 1944 in Cedar Falls. Claus was a foreman for Kehe Construction for 29 years, after retirement he worked for the Bremer County Conservation. He was born on January 5, 1916, the son of Kneal and Minnie (Reiners) Hinders. He served in the Army from 1941 to 1943. He married Marcelite Zweibohmer on March 25, 1944 in Cedar Falls. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, playing card games like solitaire, pinochle, checkers, and cribbage. He enjoyed his family, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife Marcelite; two sons Jim and his wife Kathy of Plainfield, and Tom and his wife Mary Ann of Waverly; two daughters Jane Van Raden and her husband Max of Plainfield, and Barbara Parkers and her husband David of Newell, Iowa; two sisters, Anna Arnold of Superior, Wisconsin, and Minne Gilley and her husband Jesse of Fletcher, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Reiner and Kneal Hinders, three sisters Louise Haberling, Florence Poppen and Grace Bishop; an infant sister and infant twin siblings; and infant granddaughter Dawn Hinders and a great granddaughter. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, July 19, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Waverly with the Rev. Larry Sipe officiating. Burial was in the Harlington Cemetery in Waverly.
