Description	:	Clayton Clifford Irons, age 89, of Tama, died Thursday morning, May 11, 2006 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama following a lengthy illness. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 15, 2006, 11:00 am at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with Pastor Jerry Avise-Rouse officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown, Iowa. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until service time Monday morning at the funeral home. Clayton Clifford Irons was born on September 6, 1916, in rural Montour, Iowa, the son of Clifford and Dora Hempy Irons. He graduated from the Montour High School in 1934. He married Muriel Tomlinson and they later divorced. On December 22, 1949, he married Nadine Welton Furrow in Kirksville, Missouri. Clayton ran a grocery store in rural Garwin until 1962. From 1962-1973 he was co-owner of Gibson & Irons Truck & Implement. He then worked at the local John Deere Dealership from 1973-2001. He was a member of the Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama and the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Tama. As a hobby, he enjoyed collecting John Deere memorabilia. Clayton was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nadine in 1987; one son, Duane Irons; one grandson, Jamie Irons; and one great granddaughter, Nicole Gibson. Survivors include two daughters; Sharon (Richard) Gibson of Tama and Kathryn (Dennis) Goodwin of Albuquerque, New Mexico; two sons Elvin Irons of Des Moines and Dennis (Mary) Furrow of Woodward; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; one sister Hildred Hormann of Newton; and a daughter-in-law Patsy Irons of Cedar Rapids. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to Iowa River Hospice. (kruse-phillips.com/obituary)
