Description	:	Private Clayton Eugene Nessan, Weapons Company, Fifth Marines, First Marine Division, went overseas on December 28, 1944, and was stationed in Guadalcanal and Okinawa. He was killed in action on May 6, 1945, on Okinawa. According to newspaper accounts, "His combat unit had been chosen to overcome one of the strongest points" in the enemy's defense. During the battle, Clayton was severely wounded but did not stop firing at the enemy until he lost consciousness.
