Description	:	CHATHAM - Clayton Willis Buck, 92, a longtime Chatham resident, died yesterday at Pleasant Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brewster. He was the husband of Frances (Deering) Buck, who died in 1998. They were married in 1931. Mr. Buck was a descendant of seven generations of Cape Codders. He was born in Brockton, graduated from Brockton High School and attended Boston Radio School. Read More	CHATHAM - Clayton Willis Buck, 92, a longtime Chatham resident, died yesterday at Pleasant Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brewster. He was the husband of Frances (Deering) Buck, who died in 1998. They were married in 1931. Mr. Buck was a descendant of seven generations of Cape Codders. He was born in Brockton, graduated from Brockton High School and attended Boston Radio School. He was employed by the telephone company's drafting department until the Depression arrived and the entire department was eliminated. He worked for Dutchland Farms until its demise and for the Fore River Ship Yard. He returned to Chatham with his family in 1941. Mr. Buck spent the war years at Acme Laundry in Chatham, which was then controlled by the War Department. After a time working at Nickerson Lumber Co., he was invited by Chief "Gunboat" Eldredge to join the three-member police department. He served the town for 20 years, becoming its lieutenant and retiring in 1965. After retirement he developed part of his father's land with his two sons. He enjoyed building, especially remodeling, as well as cross-country drives, vegetable gardening, and telling stories about his life and times. Surviving are two sons, Richard D. Buck and David C. Buck, both of Chatham; two daughters, Betsey A. Bloomer and Deborah Fulcher Holt, both of Chatham; a nephew; 14 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Nickerson Funeral Home, 87 Crowell Road, Chatham. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery. Visiting hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
