Read More	Clegg Evander Sell, Sr. MONROE -- Mr. Clegg Evander Sell, Sr., 84 who lived his life in Monroe, NC passed away on August 24, 2006 with his family by his side. Clegg was born on December 8, 1921 in Unionville, NC. Clegg or 'Rosie' as he was called wed Dora Love, his sweetheart from Monroe High School, during World War II. Clegg served in the 5th Air Force in the 90th Bomber Group. His duties in the Pacific were as aerial gunner and engineer in the famous 'Jolly Rogers' group. He returned to Monroe and his 'Dodie', and went to work at Harris Wells Funeral Home. Later, he went to work at McEwen Funeral Home and became part owner. He is remembered by many for his compassionate concerns and attention. 'PawPaw' was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be remembered by his children and grandchildren for all the time spent playing, laughing and singing in his backyard under the chinaberry tree. He and Dodie hosted Sunday lunch for the family and their friends. Funeral services will be held Sunday, August 27, 2006 at 3:00 PM in the First Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. Clegg was preceded in death by his parents Charles E. and Vera Purser Sell, his brothers: Hoyt, Garah and Ned and by his sisters Jo and Tom. He is survived by his sister Audrey and sisters-in-law Francis Sell, 'Kat' Sell and Ann Love. Mr. Sell is survived by his daughter, Diane Sell Everett and her husband, Leslie. Diane had loved and cared for him every day, visiting her father and his Union Park family daily. Also surviving is his faithful son, Clegg E. 'Chip' Sell, Jr. and wife, Donna, all of Monroe; grandchildren Clegg E. "Beau" Sell, III, Wilton Evans Damon III, Hal McKnight Damon and wife Lori, Brandon Sell Griffith and husband, Donald, John Brogdon Sell, Pamela Sciascia and husband Steven; great-grandchildren Elizabeth Griffith, Donald Charles 'DC' Griffith, Jr., Dory Anna Damon, Joseph Sciascia, Matthew Sciascia, Michael Sciascia and Sarah Sciascia. The family will receive friends Sunday at the church prior to the funeral from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM. Gordon Funeral and Cremation Service is caring for the Sell family.
