Leeling Dec 4,1856-Jan 23,1946 Clemence Leeling Laid To Rest Funeral services were conducted at the Harrison Methodist church on Saturday afternoon, January 26th for Clemence H. Leeling and burial was made in the Crawford cemetery. Clemence H. Leeling was born in Van Buren County, Iowa, on December 4, 1856 and died at Harrison, Nebraska, January 23, 1946. He was married to Flora Etta Burgess, February 2, 1886. He and his bride came to Sioux County in March of that year and homesteaded eighteen miles north of Harrison. In April, 1904, the family moved to a farm eight miles east of Harrison, where he continued to reside until the death of his wife on January 4, 1940. Since that time he has made his home with his children. Mr. Leeling endured the hardships of the early pioneers. He was devoted to his family and was a true friend and neighbor. He is survived by twelve children, Clarence of Whitewood, South Dak.; Mrs. Nellie Williams of Tampa, Fla.; Mrs. Lillian Cheney of Oak Harbor, Washington; Mrs. Olive Tanner of Gillette, Wyoming; Lawrence, George, Virgil, Mrs. Ethel Holbert, and Mrs. Bernice Grimm of Harrison; Mrs. Myrtle Piper, Mrs. Margaret Basse and Mrs. Violet DeBock of Crawford, Nebr.; forty-five grandchildren, thirteen of whom served in World War II, and seventeen great grandchildren; also two sisters and a brother living at Eddyville, Iowa.
