He was born June 24, 1925 in Independence County, the son of Robert Clemons and Anna Mae (Keller) Pectol. Mr. Pectol was retired from the Arkansas State Highway Department, and had worked as a ferry boat operator. He was a member of the Church of Christ, and retired from the Newark Volunteer Fire Department. Read More	Mr. Clemons Eugene "Gene" Pectol, 88, of Newark, departed this life on Saturday, July 20, 2013. He was born June 24, 1925 in Independence County, the son of Robert Clemons and Anna Mae (Keller) Pectol. Mr. Pectol was retired from the Arkansas State Highway Department, and had worked as a ferry boat operator. He was a member of the Church of Christ, and retired from the Newark Volunteer Fire Department. Mr. Pectol was a Mason, an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed gardening and traveling the U.S. and Canada. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, R.J. Pectol. Mr. Pectol is survived by his wife, Kathlene (Branscum) Pectol of Newark; one son, Ernest Gene Pectol and wife Donna of Magness; one daughter, Trucy Gail Pectol Hall of Batesville; one step-son, Rickey Allen Curtis and wife Rebecca of Cornelia, Georgia; two step-daughters, Janis Janette Curtis Shane and husband Leslie of Huff, Arkansas and Arrita May Curtis Barnes, and husband Finis of Newark; one sister, Ruby Pectol Barber of Newark; nine grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. Friends may visit at the funeral home Wednesday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Newark Church of Christ with interment to follow in Blue Springs Cemetery.
