Burial will follow in the church cemetery. He was born on Dec. 6, 1951, in Farley, son of Carl and Mary (Griffin) Welter. He received his elementary education in Epworth and was a 1970 graduate of Western Dubuque High School. Clete then attended Hawkeye Tech, in Waterloo, where he became an electrical technician. He married Pamela Miller on April 24, 1976, in Dubuque. Clete began working at Sara Lee during construction in 1972 and remained there until its closing. He then worked with Sparboe foods in the same location until the time of his death. Clete was active with his church being involved in the remodeling projects, as a eucharistic minister and the Knights of Columbus. Surviving are his wife of 35 years, Pam; two daughters, Angie (Dave) Dunn, of Lenexa, Kan., and Megan Welter, of New Hampton; a son, Nathan Welter, of New Hampton; a grandson, Sam Dunn; his mother, Mary Welter, of Epworth; two brothers, Don (Alice) Welter, of Epworth, and Jim (Jackie) Welter, of Dubuque; and two sisters, Rita (Ken) Kiefer, of Rochester, Minn., and Jean (Terry) Theisen, of Excelsior Springs, Mo. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Welter; a sister, Sr. Nora Welter P.B.V.M.; and a nephew, Eric Welter.
