Born on April 26, 1933 at Carroll, Iowa, he was the son of Arthur E. and Henrietta (Rust) Winker. He grew up in Carroll and attended Carroll High School. Read More	Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home Cletus “Red” Raymond Winker, age 75, of Glidden, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Veterans Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, following a brief illness. Born on April 26, 1933 at Carroll, Iowa, he was the son of Arthur E. and Henrietta (Rust) Winker. He grew up in Carroll and attended Carroll High School. He then attended seminary in Perrysville, Missouri, for two years before enlisting in the United States Navy. He served four years in the Navy during the Korean conflict. He was married to Jeanette Fink on April 20, 1963 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church at Manning, Iowa. The couple owned and operated the Glidden Body Shop for 35 years. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden and the Merle Hay Post of the American Legion of Glidden. In his spare time Red enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, golfing, and repairing cars. He was preceded in death by his parents, and six siblings: Arthur in infancy, Donald Winker, Robert Winker, Joseph Winker, Lorraine Curran and her husband Ed, and Ruth Henney and her husband Robert, and a brother-in-law Leo Hopfinger. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 3, 2008 at 10:30 A.M. at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Glidden. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden after 2:30 P.M. on Sunday where there will be a Rosary at 3:00 P.M. and a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 P.M. by St. Elizabeth Seton Parish. Burial will be in the Carroll City Cemetery with military honors by the Merle Hay Post of the American Legion of Glidden. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to St. Mary’s Indian Mission in Memory of Cletus Winker in care of Father John Mittelstadt P.O. Box 39, Tohatchi, New Mexico 87325.
