Memorial services will be held Friday, 11:00 A.M., May 22, at the New Horizon United Methodist Church in Melbourne, IA. Private family interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens. Clifford was born December 24, 1920, in Marshall County, IA, the son of Carl and Caroline (Schiebel) Hiatt. He was united in marriage to Leora Gowdy on February 9, 1943 at her parents home in Marshall County. His wife preceded him in death on October 10, 1997. Clifford was educated in the Marshall County area and graduated from State Center High School. He lived in the Green Mountain, Melbourne, Van Cleve and State Center areas all his life except for three years in the US Navy where he served as an Aviation Machinist Mate during World War II. He retired from farming in 1984. He was a member of the Marshall County Farm Bureau and the New Horizon United Methodist Church in Melbourne, where he served as treasurer and on other church committees. Clifford is survived by his son Nolan (Mary) Hiatt of Huntington Beach, CA, daughters, Nicky Mendenhall of Urbandale, IA, Nina Hiatt (Paul Heiman) of Parachute, CO, Nan (Tim) Stanley of Craig, CO, Nyla Hiatt (Buddy Noah) of Glendale, AZ; four grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one sister, Marla (Gene) Hiatt Phillips of Hot Springs Village, AR.
