A Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, May 21, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in the Parish Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 273. He was born on July 16, 1923, in Bellevue, son of Clarence and Irene (Abeln) Hingtgen. He married Rosemary Mueller on April 14, 1948, in Bellevue. Cliff served in the Army during World War II. He was employed with Savanna Army Depot for 32 years, retiring in 1973. After retirement, he drove a school bus in Bellevue and also worked for Pete Frank Construction until 1978. Cliff and his wife, Rosie, spent a lot of time socializing and dancing. He was strong-willed and always could bring a smile to anyone's face. His presence will be deeply missed by all. Those left to honor his memory include his brother, Vern (Peg) Hingtgen, of Dubuque; two sisters, Marilyn Dunne, of Davenport, and Lois Weinschenk, of Dubuque; a sister in-law, Charlene Hingtgen, of Bellevue; and 11 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosie; a brother, Gerald; and a sister, Averle Mueller.
