Description	:	Clifford G. Soll, 89, of Central City died Thursday, July 1, 2010, at home. Clifford was born on March 19, 1921, in Irvington to Henry and Katie (Hagedorn) Soll. Survivors are: his wife, Darlene; his children; two brothers and sisters-in-law; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives. Soll, 89, of Central City died Thursday, July 1, 2010, at home. Clifford was born on March 19, 1921, in Irvington to Henry and Katie (Hagedorn) Soll. Survivors are: his wife, Darlene; his children; two brothers and sisters-in-law; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives. He was baptized on March 26, 1922, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bennington. Cliff lived and farmed near Irvington in the early 1930's until his father's death in 1936, when he took over the family farm. Cliff farmed in Elk City, Waterloo, and Clarks from 1937 until he was drafted into the Army on June 12 1942. Cliff was a Sgt. of a mortar squad while serving in France and Germany. He was honorably discharged from the Army on Feb. 3,1946. On Aug. 3, 1947, Clifford G. and Darlene P. (Stromberg) Soll were united in marriage at the Clarks Congregational Church. After their marriage, Cliff and Darlene moved to Elkhorn, where Cliff farmed until 1951 when they moved back to Central City. Cliff continued to farm in Central City until 1957 when he and his family moved onto the farm near Clarks. While in Clarks, Cliff would become a skillful carpenter. He worked as a carpenter until 1991, when he moved back to Central City where he would remain the rest of his life. Cliff was an excellent carpenter, he enjoyed wood work and crafts. He especially enjoyed plants, flowers, and most importantly, Cliff loved his family. He was a member of the Clarks Congregational Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Bill, Ed, Charles, and Lester Soll; and one sister, Louise Dyer. Published in The Grand Island Independent on 7/2/2010
