Clifford grew up and lived his entire life on Orton Flat in the Mission Ridge area. He attended all eight grades at the West Orton School. Condolences may be sent to isburgfuneralhome.com. Clifford Glen Fravel was born on Dec. 17, 1919, to Glen and Martha (Larson) Fravel. Clifford grew up and lived his entire life on Orton Flat in the Mission Ridge area. He attended all eight grades at the West Orton School. He joined his father in ranching and took over in 1947 when his father died. Clifford married Phyllis Tibbitts on June 30, 1950, at St. John's Catholic Church in Fort Pierre. After they were married, Phyllis also took to the ranch life where they raised their four children and ranched together up until the time of his death. He enjoyed sharing his passion of ranching with many of his nephews, nieces and his grandchildren when they spent summers at the ranch where he showed them that ranching was fun and not a job. He loved to play baseball and was on several Hayes ball teams in his early years. Later he played with the South Dakota Senior Olympic Team. He was a member of South Dakota Stockgrowers, Mission Ridge Fire Department, Fort Pierre Senior Center and Ballroom Swishers. Living close to Minneconjou Bay, he always enjoyed the many fishermen and hunters who stopped to visit. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Fravel of Fort Pierre; two sons, Ron Fravel (Tammie) and Lynn Fravel (Mary Beth) all of Fort Pierre; two daughters, Kathryn Stewart (Shannon) of Fort Pierre and Linda Vevig (Randy) of Draper; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; two grandchildren, Chad Stewart and Kayla Stewart; one great-grandchild, Mathew Stewart; two brothers, Jim Fravel and Herbert Fravel; three sisters, Pearl Tibbs, Ethel Walters and Helen Boyd; and five nieces and nephews.
