Set up housekeeping 3 1/4 miles south of Lake City, until 1976, when they retired and moved into an apartment in Lake City. Cliff was exceptional with livestock, especially cattle, spending 60 years as a breeder and feeder. He was also an advocate of modern farm machinery, having owned and operate threshing machines, corn shellers, corn pickers and a combine. Cliff was active in the community, a trustee of St. Mary's Parish for 33 years, a member of the Holy Name Society for 60 years, a Calhoun County trustee for 35 years, and a member of the American Legion for 60 years. He was instrumental in organizing the township's fire protection services and was past president of the Calhoun Co. Beef Producers Association. He received an honorary 60-year patron award from the Omaha Livestock Foundation. Cliff passed away at the Shady Oaks Nursing Home, Lake City. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lake City. Burial with Military Honors by the American Legion Post No. 31 and the V.F.W. Post No. 1899.
