Cliff was born September 24, 1923, at Elgin the son of Daniel and Etta (Mayer) Giese. He attended school at Elgin, graduating from Elgin High School. Following high school, he attended trade school at Fargo. He was a welder at a shipyard in Duluth, Minnesota, before being drafted into the service of his country on May 14, 1943. He was assigned to the United States Army Division 460th Parachute Field Artillery Battalion serving in the Eastern Europe war zone during World war II. He was honorably discharged on November 04, 1945. Cliff married Jessie I Neustel on November 06, 1947, in the Lutheran church at Woodworth. They began farming in Section 6, Robinson Township, which they later purchased. He also worked for Saltness Electric as an electrician. They liked to visit and were always ready and willing to play a game of cards. Jessie passed away October 23, 1991. On March 11, 1994, Cliff married Evelyn Shirley Price. They moved at made their home at Steele. He was an active member of Bethany Lutheran Church at Robinson, serving on the church council. He also served as a board member for farmer's Union, Pettibone. For several years he worked for ASCS doing land and grain bin measuring. Later he worked for Kidder County doing assessing. He was an active past member of Robinson Lions, Tuttle VFW, New Rockford American Legion and Bismarck Eagles. Cliff is survived by his wife, Evelyn; one son and daughter-in-law; three daughters and sons-in-law; five grandsons; two stepsons and step daughters-in-law; one stepdaughter and step son-in-law; 13 step grandchildren; one sister Vernice (Bob) Kramer, Kalispell, Montana; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Chester (Lorraine), Eugene (Hilda) and raymond (Janet). He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jessie; one granddaughter and one step grandson. Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck.
