Description	:	The son of John Henry and Selma Koppin Petermeier, Clifford Petermeier was born May 9, 1927, in rural Newton. On Oct. 3, 1948, he married Evelyn Kono in the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Clifford was a Caterpillar operator and landfill superintendent for the City of Newton. He retired in 1989 after 41 years of service. He also owned and operated a concrete and snow removal business from 1963 to 1995. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Clifford was 79 when he died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Survivors include his wife; a son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Shelley Petermeier of Cornville, Ariz.; a daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Dennis McCamy of Osage Beach, Mo.; five grandchildren; and a sister, Sharon Edwards of Newton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Petermeier. Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2006, at Pence-Reese Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. Stephen Mathison-Bowie of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial followed at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery.
