A retired farmer, Mr. and Mrs. Tilson have been town residents for nearly 20 years, residing in the home they before moving from the farm. Cliff was a good friend to all who knew him. He continued his interest in farming long after moving to town and was constantly at work around the yard of his home, hoping it was in top shape. He had been in failing health for a number of years, and although hospitalized on many occasions, and quite seriously injured in a highway accident, he had continued active until the last. He will be greatly missed in his neighborhood and by those around the town accustomed to his frequent calls. Obituary Clifford Virgil Tilson was born to Swain and Ella Tilson on February 3, 1892 and died March 29, 1969, at the age of 77 years, 1 month and 26 days in the Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, Neb. On January 22, 1913 he was united in marriage to Carrie Emma Leggott. To this union were born one daughter and three sons. The family lived on a farm northwest of Elwood until December of 1949, when they moved to Elwood. Cliff joined the Methodist Church by profession of faith on August 20, 1911, being received by Rev. Carr. Mr. Tilson is survived by his wife, Carrie; one daughter, Mardelle Lierman, Longmont, Colo.; three sons, George of Cozad, Russell of Elwood, Rex of Lyons, Colo.; 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Wallace, of Lexington, Nebr., many other relatives and friends. Three brothers preceded him in death. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, April 1st from the Elwood Methodist Church by the Rev. Fred Baker, minister. Mrs. Byron Ewer was organist, and George Baisinger, soloist. Casket bearers were Keith Leggott, Archie Schroeder, Harold Elliott, William Mahar, Vaugn Leggott and Dale Fish. Interment was in Elwood Cemetery. ____________________
