Description	:	Clifford Wayne Bridge, 82, of Sterling, died Jan. 9, 1997 in Sterling. Visitation and viewing will begin at noon Sunday at the Chaney-Walters Funeral Home. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Christ United Methodist Church with the Rev. T.L. Phillips officiating. Following the funeral, the VFW will perform graveside services at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorials may be given to the Christ United Methodist Church. Mr. Bridge was born Oct. 23, 1914 to Alfred and Rosa (Harvey) Bridge in Orchard, Neb. He lived on the family's farm until he grad uated from Orchard High School in 1932. He then moved to O'Neill, Neb. where he worked with his brother at the Deep Rock Service Station. He married E. Gwendolyn Luth March 24, 1959 in O'Neill. They lived in Wayne, Neb. and Fremont, Neb. before coming to Sterling in 1942, where he worked at the Jesse Baking Company. From 1943-1946, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He received the Good Conduct Medal in the Asiatic Pacific Area and the Southern Phillipines Operations. In 1959, he was awarded the Silver Beaver Award for distinguished service to Boyhood with the Long Peak Council. He returned to Sterling where he worked for New Method Cleaners for 40 years. He retired in 1989. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, was membership chairman of the Methodist Men's Club, served as the Sunday School Librarian and was head usher. He was also a charter member of the Sterling camera Club. He is survived by his wife Gwendolyn of Sterling; a brother- in-law, Stanley Laurel Luth and wife Arlene of Sterling and a sister Edna M. Reid of Orchard, Neb. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers.
