Description	:	Clifton was the recipient of both the Silver Star Medal and the Bronze Star Medal for his action against the Japanese in the Philippines in 1945. He did not actually receive the Medals until years later (1968) in a award ceremony at Murray State University. Col. Birdsong, head of ROTC at Murray State University at the time, awarded Clifton with his medals.
