Clifton Lee Burdette, 91, of Anderson, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2002, at RMC Veteran Nursing Home. Born in Anderson County, he was retired from textiles and farming. He was previously worked as a security guard. He was a U.S. Navy World War II Veteran, and a member of Varennes Heights Baptist Church. Surviving are sons, Ray Burdette, Garland "Bud" Burdette and Ronnie Burdette all of Anderson; daughter, Mrs. Betty Jean Hall of Germantown, Tenn.; sisters, Lonnie Owenby of Anderson and Rosella Price of North Augusta; 15 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. He was the widow of Madge Ruth Gentry Burdette and the son of the late Robert Lee "Bob" Burdette and Sallie Casey Prince Burdette. He was preceded in death by a son, William Jack Burdette, five sisters, Ethel Burdette, Mary Green, Janie Thomas, Ola Proctor Shaw, and Onie Shaw Hart; a brother Clarence ‘Bill" Burdette. Services at 2 pm Thursday in the Chapel of McDougald Funeral Home by the Revs. Jack Rinks, Sam Duncan and Brad Ellington. Burial in South Lawn Memorial Garden, Anderson, with Military Honors by Campbell Patriots Post 184. The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6 – 8 pm Wednesday. The family is at the home of Ray Burdette, 2824 S. Main St. Anderson.
