Cremation will take place and graveside services will be held July 2, at Schafer Cemetery in Watford City. There will be an open house at Dan's Billings residence this Sunday, Jan. 9, from 3 until 5 p.m. for friends and family. Clinton Dan Grantier, Jr., was born on April 5, 1929, at Mercy Hospital in Williston, the son of Clinton D. and Mary C. (Paulsen) Grantier. Dan attended grade school in Watford City and graduated from high school in Williston. Dan served in the U.S. Navy from May of 1948 until May of 1952, receiving an honorable discharge at the rank of 3rd Class Petty Officer. After his discharge, Dan attended Washburn University in Topeka, Kan., for one and a half years and moved to Watford City for seven years, where he worked selling insurance and was a bookkeeper. Dan moved to Montana in 1963, working for the insurance firm of Jensen & Moore, Inc., where he became the manager in 1968. He later worked for White & White, Inc. and Equifax, Inc. He spent one year in Minneapolis before returning to Montana in 1990. Dan retired in 1991 and continued to live in Billings. Dan was once married to Renee' Fitzpatrick. He enjoyed latch-hooking, collecting pottery, e-mailing with friends and family, and family genealogy. Dan loved people and never met a stranger. His parents and one brother, Larry Grantier, preceded Dan in death. One sister, Beverly Murphy and her husband, Gene of Papillion, Neb.; one sister-in-law, Marlene Grantier of Winnett; and several nieces and nephews, survive Dan. Memorials may be made to Big Sky Hospice, PO Box 35033, Billings, MT 59107 or charity of your choice. Fulkerson Funeral Home of Watford City is in charge of the arrangements.
