She grew to young womanhood in that community, and taught school a few years in country school districts not far from her home. She was united in holy wedlock to Earl C. Stackhouse, September 23, 1907, and to this union five children were born, one of which preceeded the mother in death. The family moved from Harlan county to a ranch near Lewellen in the spring of 1916, and lived there until the spring of 1930 when they moved to Eustis and later to California. Mrs. Stackhouse passed away Sunday, July 15, 1947 at heir home in Torrance, California. She leaves to mourn her going, her husband, Earl C. Stackhouse; four sons, Perry C. of Tuscola Illinois, Walter and Dale of Torrance, California and Gerald of Anaheim, California; five grandchildren, three sisters, and three brothers, besides other relatives and many friends. She became a member of the Methodist church when she was just a girl in her teens, and for some years worked in the church of which her parents were charter members. Funeral services were held Friday, July 18, at the mortuary with Rev. Daughetee in charge. Burial was in Ash Hollow cemetery at Lewellen. Following is a list of those from out of town who were here for the funeral: F. A. Seick and Mrs. Mabel Wertz of Huntley; Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Smith and Mrs. Laura Rhodes of Haxtun, Colorado; Rev. and Mrs. George Seick of Rushville; Mrs. E. O. Richards, Chappell; Mr. and Mrs. Perry Stackhouse and family of Tuscola, Illinois; Earl, Dale and Mr. and Mrs. Gerald and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stackhouse of California and Mrs. Jennie Stackhouse of Lewellen.
