The young woman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merton Averill of Jefferson, was ill for only forty-eight hours preceding her death. Read More	Former Jefferson Girl Polio Victim Mrs. Clovergene Catherine Mullins died at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge last Saturday of polio. The young woman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merton Averill of Jefferson, was ill for only forty-eight hours preceding her death. She is survived by her husband, Jay, and her five year old daughter, Anna Kay; also her parents, one sister, Mrs. Gordon McHugh of Jefferson, her paternal grandparents, Mrs. and Mrs. Charles Averill of Boone, besides many other relatives and friends. Clovergene was born June 7, 1925* in Oak Park, Illinois, and lived in Cicero, Illinois until she was seven years old. At that time she moved with her family to a farm near Jefferson. She attended Jefferson schools and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1941. The following fall she began working in the law office of the late Ralph Howard. She served as his secretary until her marriage. On March 15, 1942, she was united in marriage to Jay C. Mullins at Boone. To this union was born one daughter, Anna Kay. The couple made their home on a farm near Churdan for two years and then moved to a farm near Somers, Iowa, where they have lived since. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Somers. She was 29 years, two months, and nine days old at the time of her death. Services for Mrs. Mullins were held in the Slininger Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m., August 19, 1952. The Reverend O. Sandbach, pastor of the Methodist Church in Somers, conducted the service. Mrs. Darwin P. Moore sand "In the Garden" and "Good Night and Good Morning". She was accompanied by Mrs. Dean Barker. Pallbearers were: Clayton Hanson, Donald Whitver, J. D. Erritt, Lewis Mullins, Floyd Mullins, and James Averill. Interment was in the Dawson Township Cemeetery.
